Successful people have discipline and they have these daily habits that improves their lives little by little every single day.
Changing your life or wanting to change your life can be really scary and quite intimidating. Especially when you do not know where to begin and you feel like you are really far off from the kind of life you want for yourself.
But, worry not. You do not have to change your life completely overnight. Changing little things in your life over a period of time brings about the big changes.
Creating a better life for yourself often starts with creating habits. Habits are changes in your life that lead to big results when practised daily. Yes, DAILY.
You can’t expect to lose weight by eating healthy once a month or going to the gym once a week. You have to do these things daily and develop them as habits in order to see the changes.
And with some habits you might not see or feel a direct change in your life, but they all add up and improve the quality of your life.
Let’s define what does success mean:
If I ask you right now, “Do you want to be successful?” Of course you will say yes. And that’s because no one wants to be unsuccessful or to be mediocre in life.
But what does being successful really mean?
Does it mean to be filthy rich?
Does it mean to be famous?
When what does success means?
The short answer is, it depends on you. Being successful means living an abundant life where you can fulfil your life’s purpose and be happy.
It doesn’t necessarily mean being super rich or famous or owning a company. So often we let the society define what success is supposed to look like. And that results in you being a part of the rat race.
So it’s best to define what success means to you and to strive towards that kind of life. I find it best to journal what an ideal day in my life looks like and then work towards that goal every single day.
Because for me being successful means having enough money and enough time for my family and myself. For me it’s all about the balance. Maybe it means something else to you. That’s besides the point.
The point is, you can define what success means to you and be successful. And you can do so by developing or adopting habits that will help you achieve your goals and accomplish your purpose.
So, here are 23 habits of highly successful people that will change your life:
#1: Make your bed:
Wait! Don’t laugh. This is probably that one things that everyone keeps saying, isn’t it? But that’s only because it’s true.
Making your bed in the morning gives you a sense of accomplishment and helps you start your day off on the right note. And when you start your day with a win, you can keep that momentum going throughout your day.
And it’s super relaxing to come back to a clean made up bed after a long tiring work day.
Of course you don’t have to do it first thing in the morning. I usually let my duvet air out before I make me bed. It makes the bed feel fresher.
#2: Write goals:
Writing down your goals makes it easier for you to actually achieve them. When you write down your goals you are 42% more likely to achieve them. Writing down your goals also keeps you accountable. But whenever setting goals, you do not want to set goals that are not achievable. Nor should you set goals that are super easy for you that they don’t push you enough.

#3: make a to do list:
Successful people always have an agenda for the day and they know what’s on their to do list before they start the day. Writing down your to-dos for the day will help you prioritise your time and get work done.
But don’t put things on your to do list just for the sake of crossing it out. Write things that actually are “work” and will demand time and attention from you. I always write my top 3 priorities for the day as well. And that means if I can get nothing else done for some reason, I will focus all my time and energy towards these 3 things. And at the end of the day I will know that I got my most critical tasks done.
#4: Focus on work:
Successful people don’t get easily distracted while they are working. you will not find them scrolling through their Instagram feed or chatting with friends when it’s time to work. So it’s important to learn to avoid these distractions and focus on the task at hand.
If you have a very poor habit of constantly reaching out for your phone and then wasting time on it, I’d suggest keep the phone far from your work desk.
#5: Stop procrastinating and start taking action:
Making plans is great, but do you know what’s better? Actually executing those plans. A plan is only good if the execution is there. Without proper execution even the biggest of plans fail. And all successful people know that and practise that in real life. They know the importance of actually getting things done rather than just making plan.

This is a habit that all successful people have in common. they take care of their bodies and workout regularly. And that’s because they know the importance of keeping fit. On the same lines as taking acre of themselves, successful people also know that their bodies need proper nutrition in order to work properly. You will not find them having fries or other junk every other day. They educate themselves about nutrition and always make sure to have proper balanced healthy meals.

Successful people take time out to read something everyday. And they know the importance of investing in themselves and in their learning. And they know the importance of reading more books. Even if it is just for 30 minutes a day, they take that time out and read.
So take time out to read something that teaches you something. And if you feel like you don’t have the time, try listening to audio books on your way to and from work. Audio books are life changing because they are such a great source of knowledge and it is something you can do passively.

All successful people take time out to learn something new every single day. They take the time to get better at a new hobby or to start a new hobby because they know how important it is. Having these hobbies that keep challenging you is super important because they push you out of your comfort zone.

They knwo the importance of time management and they know the tools that will help them manage their time better. And that’s because they keep learning and trying new techniques to get the most of their day. Time management is something that every one must learn. Successful people know that boundaries are super important. they might be friends with the people who work under them but they know when to be professional and get things done. They know that the company they are in matters. You are an average of the 5 people you spend most of your time with and successful people know how to choose these people wisely. They know when to give someone their time and attention and how much. They choose the company of like minded people who push them to achieve their goals and set even bigger goals. They do not indulge with people who spend their time gossiping about other people. They choose the company of people who are driven and career oriented.
