Simplifying your life is way easier than you think. And if you are feeling overwhelmed with the clutter that’s present in your life, these simple tips will help. I always think that simplifying your life or having a simple lifestyle has a lot to do with how we manage our homes. But it is also about how we manage out time and energy.
So having a simplified life simply means having more time, energy and space. In short, having more peace of mind and not feeling like you are always rushing to get things done.
And if you feel like you are always rushing and you have no time to do anything that you actually enjoy, these tips will help.
WAYs to simplify your life:
#1: Create routines:
Creating routines is the easiest way to simplify your life. Instead of constantly worrying about working out, eating healthy, doing skin care and so on, make them a part of your routine. Routines are great because they put you on an auto pilot in the mornings when you are pressed for time. you can still get your tasks done when you know what routine needs to be followed.
So create morning and night routines that work for you. Your morning routine could include things like having proper breakfast, skincare, making your bed. And you night routine could include things that involve relaxing and unwinding after a long work day, like taking a warm shower, or reading a book.
Of course you need routines that work for you. And my routine won’t serve you. So figure out what you want to do and make it a part of your routine.
#2: Know your style & create a Uniform:
When you don’t have the time to get ready and choose outfits in the mornings, it serves you well to have a uniform ready. And not like the ones you had in school. but knowing your personal style and having some outfits that you know work together perfectly is the key. And when you don’t have the time you can simply put on one of these outfits.
You’d also know what accessories go well with that outfit and thus you can look put together even on days when you don’t have the time.
#3: Have a place for things:
Having a proper place for things is the key when it comes to a clutter free home. Everything that’s in your home should have a place of its own. It should have a place where it belongs. It helps simplify your life because you know exactly where you need to put certain things. A
And you are not looking for space in your junk drawer to shove even more “junk” into. And when you actually need something, you’d know where you’ll find it. And you don’t have to waste your precious time and energy in turning the entire house over looking for it.
#4: Declutter:
I could go on an on about decluttering and how it changes your entire life. But then, I don’t want to waste your time. Because I know it’s precious. Decluttering your house is extremely helpful when it comes to simplifying. Because when you have less stuff, you have to spend less time organising it. And you can even clean your entire house a lot faster.
And in general, having less clutter will make your life simpler. Think about it. Having less clothes means not spending hours figuring out what to wear.

#5: Make a budget and stick to it:
Make a budget and stick to it. Yes it is in fact that simple. And when you make a budget that works for you and stick to it, you are simplifying money for you. That means not having to constantly worry about money. because you know exactly how much you are spending and where.
Here are some resources that might be useful:
#6: Meal planning & prepping:
Meal planning and meal prepping on the weekend will save you so much time and money. When you meal plan properly and do grocery shopping in one go, you end up saving a lot of time and making sure you aren’t going to the grocery store every other day. We all know what a waste of time they are.
And when you have a meal plan, you can prep some of the meals on the weekend. This will help you in simplifying your life because you no longer have to think about what to cook and eat 3 times a day. And it will also help you eat a lot healthier because you already have the prep done and it takes less time to actually prepare the meals when it’s time to eat.
#7: Use the 2 minute rule:
I learned this a few years back and it is still one of the best advice to simplifying life. It says if something can be done in 2 minutes, do it right away. Do not put it off for a weekend or some other day.
Very often we put the most ridiculous tasks on our to-do list and then end up with a really long list of things, which is overwhelming to tackle. And let me tell you, these small tasks pile up quicker than you’d think. And they create un-necessary stress in your life that can so easily be avoided. So why not?
#8: Perfection is for procrastinators:
This is the best advise you will get. Perfection is for procrastinators. And if you simply procrastinating doing something because you want it to be perfect, STOP. More often than not, done is better than perfect. And I can’t tell you how much this simple mantra has helped me in my life. Doing something right away is far better than waiting to get every thing right.
#9: Avoid distractions:
Do you ever sit down to work and then end up scrolling through your Instagram feed for hours? And then you wonder why you never have enough time. And also stress about getting your to-do list done. Well, I have one very simple tip. Avoid distractions. Keep your phone away from your desk and when you are working, focus on the task at hand. You are free to scroll as much as you want in your free time. (although it’s not the best, it’s still better than using your phone while working)
#10: Schedule a life admin day:
Schedule a life admin day. It’s a day where you get all the life admin tasks done. These are essentially the tasks that you couldn’t get done in under 2 minutes. So instead of leaving your work and tackling them right away, write them down. And tackle them on a life admin day.
Usually my life admin tasks include things like cleaning out mail box, Decluttering a part of my house, washing my car etc.
#11: Automate tasks or set reminders:
Automate whenever you can and whatever you can. Automating tasks will help you save more time on the daily. I automate things like my savings and investments that go out monthly. If you have a debt, you could automate your loan payments.
You can even automate things like posting to social media, if that’s something you do every day.
And for things that you can’t automate, set reminders. I always set reminders for credit card due dates so that I pay off the bills on time and don’t have to pay a surcharge. These reminders give me peace of mind that I won’t forget any important payments.
These are 11 tips that will help you simplify your life. And while all these might seem like small changes, they have a big impact when it comes to making your life easier. So do give them a try. And let me know what other tips do you have for simplifying your life?
