What is an elevated lifestyle?
An elevated lifestyle is simply the one where you are happy, going strong after your goals and living the life you have always envisioned for yourself. In an elevated lifestyle, you are true to yourself, you are authentic and you do not feel the need to impress anyone else.
No matter why you want to level up your life, these tips will help you get where you want. Of course, you would still need to do the actual work. But these tips will serve as a framework as you go about creating and living the life you have always imagined for yourself.
How to Level up your lifestyle:
#1: Create a clear and defined vision:
Before you actually begin the actual work towards levelling up your life, this is a good exercise. You must know what you want your life to look like to steer it into the right direction. And to be able to create a vision, you must first ask yourself what’s important to you.
Everyone’s idea of success looks different.
And everyone’s dream life looks different. What’s important for someone might not be important to you and vice versa. Define what success looks like to you. What kind of a life do you want and what is something that holds value for you.
If you don’t know where to begin, try and focus on what makes you feel good. And a glass of wine is not the answer, ladies. We are working and focussing on deeper things. So focus on things you find joy and meaning in. Ask yourself what do you think your purpose in life is?
If you need more help, here are 50 Journal prompts that will help you with Self-Discovery.
If you don’t have a clear idea of what you want in your life, maybe you can focus on the feeling.
So think about how you’d want to feel in a few years from now. And in doing so, make sure you’re honest with yourself and are not simply desiring a life that someone else has. Because the truth is, even if you chase someone else’s idea of a perfect life and even if you get there, you will not truly be happy.
Do not let societies expectation of you affect this vision too. More often than not, we are so heavily influenced by everyone’s expectations of us, that we forget what’s actually important for us. So, don’t feel like you need to change your life because your spouse, society of friends want you to.
FOCUS ON WHAT YOU WANT.
If it helps, write “What does an ideal day look like for you?“
So, now you have a clear direction that you want to take your life in.
#2: Create another version of you:
So, you have defined what kind of life you want.
Now, for a moment, imagine that already have that life. Imagine that you are already happy, successful, living the life of your dreams. Now, in that moment, think of the kind of person you are.
Ask yourself what kind of person has that kind of life?
Some journal prompts that might help you are:
- What are that person’s beliefs and values?
- What do they wear?
- What kind of food do they eat?
- How do they carry themselves?
- What is your work ethic like?
- What are the priorities in your life?
- What are their daily habits?
Now, instead of saying “I wish I was like that”, start living your life like you’re already this person. Instead of saying things like I wish I had that kind of courage to go after my dreams. Tell yourself that you are already the kind of person who does that.
Make a list of affirmations and make sure you repeat them every single day. Some affirmations that are really useful are:
- I am confident.
- I am kind and compassionate.
- I am living my dream life.
- I have all the resources I need to live happily.
- I have all the power to change mu life if I want to.
#3: Remove things that don’t fit your idea of your dream life:
So you have the vision, you know what you want your life to look like. Now start removing things that do not fit the idea of your dream life.
- So let’s say you have envisioned yourself having elegant style, go through your wardrobe and purge things that don’t fit that image. Of course you don’t have to do it right away, but you can start by taking small steps in that direction.
For example, you can stop buying trendy clothes that do not fit your idea of what you see your future self wearing.
- If you envision yourself having a toxin free house, remove all plastic containers and invest in glass containers. You could start by putting a stop to all the single use plastic items in your kitchen.
And this is not just limited to things as well.
If you see your future self being surrounded by people who are driven, motivated in life, you could start by being more intentional about the company you keep. Choose people you spend your time and attention with, carefully. Choose people who motivate you to go after your dreams and to push yourself out of your comfort zone.
At this point, you should also remove things that aren’t working for you.
I started an embroidery business years back as a side gig and it wasn’t going anywhere. But I was always holding onto that business and would do any one or two order that came in every now and then. But I realised that I was holding onto it, because I saw quitting and letting go as a failure.
But sometimes, quitting and letting go of something that’s not working for you, is a sign of having courage.
Yes it takes courage to accept when something is not working. And it takes courage to let go of things or people that no longer serve you. You do not need to stick to an idea just because you don’t want to fail at something. Because when you let go of certain things, you’re making space for other things in your life.
#4: Take action:
Have you ever heard that Nothing ever changes unless nothing changes? So if you still have the same life that you had a few years back and you feel like you haven’t grown as a person, Ask yourself what changes have you made.
And be honest with yourself when you answer this question. And most likely, you will see that you have not made the efforts you should have. And that’s the reason you’re still where you were a few years back.
Any plan, however good it is, is pointless if you do not take the action towards achieving it.
And that’s why, when you are setting these goals for yourself, it’s important to be realistic and honest with yourself. Don’t simply say “I want to be a millionaire in 2 years”. I mean who doesn’t want that. But make goals that are well defined and then make a plan that will help you achieve those goals.
But most importantly, TAKE ACTION.
Start by adopting small lifestyle changes every single day that will take you closer to your goals. Understand that nothing that is of any importance gets done without a proper plan and without you taking action.
If you want a detailed guide on how to set goals, then Here is a detailed guide on How to set goals and actually achieve them.
#5: Refocus And regroup:
Most important of all, you must take the time to refocus and re-evaluate the direction in which your life is headed. Take time to evaluate from time to time.
And change your direction if you feel like you’re not going in the right one. It’s important because it will allow you to see if you are doing the right things to be able to achieve the life that you want.
Let’s say in a few years from now, you see yourself living a more minimal lifestyle and not seeking pleasure and joy in material things. then you need to make decluttering from time to time a habit. And these decluttering sessions will allow you to see what you usually have to declutter. And perhaps you could stop buying those things to begin with.
Any change is not that simple as it sounds and it takes time to implement. And if you are not more intentional about these changes, then you lose the sense of direction. You start seeking things that others around you seek. And you start losing a sight of what’s important to you and what are your values.
So it’s important that you take out the time to refocus your energy towards your vision and towards creating the life of your dreams. this step will truly allow your dream to manifest into reality.
It’s quite simple, really.
If you want to be fit and healthy but are not working out or eating right, would you ever be able to achieve those goals? No, right!
You need to be putting consistent efforts in and checking in with yourself every few weeks or months. That’s where the mid year Journal prompts come in. These journal prompts will help you ask the right questions and when you answer them honestly, you will get an idea of what changes do you need to make.
There you have it. 5 ways in which you can level up your life. And take notice how these things have got nothing to do with drastic and irrational changes like quitting your job right now. They are there to provide your with a framework to work towards the kind of life you want for yourself. I hope you found this post helpful.
Making changes and creating a life you love takes time and efforts. And it doesn’t happen over night. So be consistent and commit to making the changes and you’ll soon start seeing the results.
